Wendy Thornell, LMSW
Primary Therapist
Wendy is a dedicated therapist with a strong background in school-based social work, mental health counseling, and case management. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she specialized in direct practice with children and families and engaged in inter-professional education on child maltreatment, domestic violence, and poverty.
Wendy has extensive experience working with children, teens, and families in educational, clinical, and community-based settings. As a school social worker, she provided individual and group therapy, conducted student screenings and referrals, and supported families in accessing mental health resources. Her time as a health and wellness coach further strengthened her ability to teach students emotional regulation, mindfulness, and coping skills in a fun and engaging way.
In addition to her school-based work, Wendy has served as a case manager in transitional housing programs, assisting individuals with psychosocial assessments, behavioral interventions, and skill-building for self-sufficiency. She incorporates CBT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and play therapy into her approach, tailoring treatment to meet each client’s unique needs.
Passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces for healing, Wendy brings a compassionate, strengths-based perspective to her work at BasePoint. She is committed to helping adolescents build resilience, process trauma, and develop the skills they need to thrive.
