What Does Treatment Admissions or Intake Mean?

The teen mental health treatment admission process includes an extensive intake interview and psychological evaluation to screen for existing mental health conditions. This includes questions about your teen’s lifestyle, cultural background, and spiritual beliefs, which are all taken into consideration. A physical and mental evaluation will be a part of admission into mental health rehab.

The process begins when you request a complimentary same-day assessment. This assessment helps to identify current symptoms and determine the types of programs and services that will benefit your teenager most.

Teens in the crisis stabilization program learn specific strategies to cope and minimize the impact of triggers and stressors. Only in the most severe cases are families given a referral to an inpatient or residential program where professionals help de-escalate the severity so the teen no longer is a danger to themselves or others.

Admissions and Intake Process for Dual Diagnosis Rehab for Teens

Admission and Intake Process for Teen Dual Diagnosis Rehab

It is crucial to identify a dual diagnosis early in treatment to ensure your teen receives the necessary help to overcome their substance use disorder and mental health challenges. A thorough mental and physical health assessment takes place during the intake process for a teen’s mental health program to identify the challenges your teen experiences.

Once a customized program has been developed, we work with you and your insurance company to help your teenager get the mental health services benefits covered in your policy. A dual diagnosis is a co-occurring mental health condition diagnosed alongside a substance use disorder. While one condition does not necessarily trigger the second condition, it is crucial to treat both conditions appropriately at the same time to reduce the risk of relapse. During the intake process, an experienced mental health professional screens your son or daughter for common mental health challenges that include depression, anxiety, and eating disorders to name a few.

Your teen’s customized treatment program is established with the first evaluation, but it is adjusted throughout treatment to ensure that your teen receives the best possible care. During the intake process, we ascertain whether your insurance requires prior authorization and supply them with the necessary admission paperwork for teen rehab so your teen receives the benefits outlined in your healthcare policy.

Mental Health Treatment Process and Daily Schedule

The sole focus of our outpatient programs at BasePoint Academy is to support and treat teenagers who experience behavioral and mental health disorders that impact their daily lives. During that process, teenagers undergo several types of therapy in a customized approach that is based on their needs.

Nearly all teens have individual therapy where they meet one-on-one with a licensed counselor, psychiatrist, or therapist who helps them with the core principles of mental wellness and recovery. Teens who require medication management can receive that at BasePoint Academy where our clinicians partner with your teen to manage their symptoms.

The psychological fallout from the 2020 pandemic prompted the development of BasePoint Academy resiliency program. This treatment approach was influenced by the experience of adversity and teaching teens how to develop resiliency, which are steps they can use throughout their lives.

We work with teenagers to help them shift their perspective about the challenges in their lives so they have the power on their own to bounce back from challenges and develop intrinsic motivation to heal and establish long-lasting change. Our resiliency program has become a signature teen program as it touches the needs of all teens who are struggling with substance use or mental health challenges.

In addition to these treatment options, your teen’s customized program may include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trust-based relational intervention, or psychodynamic therapy to name a few.
