Treating Teen Substance Use: Dual Diagnosis Treatment For Teens

According to a recent survey by the SAMHSA on adolescent health and drug use, over 8% of U.S. teens consumed alcohol within the last month, and over 13% of ages 12 to 17 used illicit substances within the last year.[1]

Cannabis use in teens ranges from 8% to 20% from 8th graders to 12th graders, respectively, having consumed cannabis in the past year. These numbers come in just behind alcohol use which ranges from 15% of 8th graders and 51% of 12th graders report drinking alcohol in the last year.[2]

Our teen-centered treatment programs are specifically designed to address teen age-appropriate interventions for teen depression administered by providers who are specifically trained in adolescent mental health.

Personalized Treatment Plans

After an initial consultation, each teen will undergo a detailed and comprehensive assessment. Based on this data, we will design an individualized treatment plan based on their unique needs.

One-On-One Therapy: Teen Substance Use Treatment

The BasePoint Academy Resiliency Program

Teens are not always naturally aware of how to bounce back from adversity. When faced with family, life, academic, or social
stressors, they can fall back on unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, and habits. Developing resiliency activates the innate capacity to heal and overcome challenges.

Medication Management: Teen Mental Health
Facility, Forney TX

Within teen dual diagnosis treatment, any underlying mental health conditions must also be addressed. In some cases, this requires prescription medications. These holistic interventions address the whole person and assist with medication schedules, side effect management, and progress tracking.

Education Support

One of the common barriers to teen substance use treatment is the potential negative impact on their education. The BasePoint Academy treatment program specializes in teen-specific treatment plans and navigating recovery without sacrificing academic progress. We work closely with education counselors and school boards to develop individualized education plans for each patient.

Family Therapy: Navigating Teen Substance
Use Together

No matter your age, substance use can damage one’s relationships with even your closest loved ones. But in order for teens to stay strong in recovery, they require consistent support. By incorporating the family unit into the treatment program, everyone receives the support they need for lasting success.

Group Therapy

Peer pressure can be positive. When treating teen substance use, it’s imperative. By leveraging the positive influence of a circle of goal-oriented peers, teens will learn from one another’s experiences. Together, they will encourage and compel one another into healthier habits.
